Description
DoubleCAD™ XT Pro is designed to be an excellent companion to AutoCAD® for drafting and detailing. The menus, tools, and other user interface items are designed to be familiar and easy-to-learn for someone who knows the AutoCAD classic interface. In version 2 we have focused on eliminating the most common differences in behavior, so that tasks you do without thinking will behave alike. This includes changes to the ESC key, Space Bar, and Enter key among other UI improvements.

With the addition of new selection tools, copying, rotating, and moving objects can be done similarly to the keystroke combinations used in AutoCAD as well.

Each of these changes allow for much faster assimilation, as there is less to learn, and the most common “muscle memory” tasks should behave in the same manner in both applications.

We have highly compatible .DWG, .DXF, and .DWF (read and write) support from R14 through 2009 (with 2010 coming soon). The .DWG support even includes the AutoCAD Architecture (ACA) extensions.

3D models, whether solid or surface are easier and faster to document in DoubleCAD XT Pro using the drafting palette. It is a more productive and precise way to document an AutoCAD 3D model than using AutoCAD LT®. If the DoubleCAD documentation process begins with an Xref, the design may continue to evolve in AutoCAD without having to start over in DoubleCAD: the drafting palette views, elevations, details, etc, will update automatically.

Our architectural tools allow for viewing and editing ACA files with great drafting support. But beyond being a downstream partner for AutoCAD and ACA files, DoubleCAD can be an excellent place to begin a project. Starting a floorplan with our AEC wall objects, adding height, including doors, windows, and inserting your own custom blocks that auto-align in the self-healing walls speeds design work that may be completed in AutoCAD. Our self-healing walls are recognized by the AutoCAD object enablers and therefore remain self-healing in AutoCAD.
